Prospect Park Church
The Prospect Park church of Christ meets on Sundays at 10 AM and Thursdays at 7PM at 1001 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11216 on Bergen Street between Bedford Avenue and Franklin Avenue. Whether you are a faithful follower of Jesus or completely new (or even skeptical) of faith, we would be thrilled and honored for you to join us any time.
On Sundays our worship assemblies are ordered by the teaching of the New Testament. We pray, sing songs, read and preach the Word of God, and share the Lord's Supper. After worship we have a brief intermission to greet one another and to connect with guests. Following that intermission we have group Bible studies for adults and children. We also hold Bible studies for adults and children on Thursdays at 7PM. Our group Bible studies are concentrated on learning what the Word of God says and how our lives are to be shaped by it. Bible studies are conducted in dialogue format; questions and feedback are strongly encouraged.
Following are a few FAQs that may provide some additional information. If you have any specific questions, please contact us. We look forward to talking with you.
What are your core beliefs?
We belive that Jesus of Nazareth is the Son of God who died for the sins of the world, was raised from the dead, and now reigns in heaven. We belive the Bible is his Word where truth has been revealed to humanity. These two convictions are the foundation from which we answer any and every other question. If you have more specific questions, we would be eager to search the Scriptures with you to consider the answers God has given.
"What does it mean that you are a 'church of Christ'?"
We want to conduct ourselves so that our allegiance and attention is on Christ guided by his Word alone. Our aim is to be faithful to the same beliefs and practices that he established at the launching of his kingdom. We are an autonomous congregation which means strive to remain free from any worldly traditions and we have no ties to any denominational association of churches.
If I come to your church, what should I wear?
Please come however you would like. We have no expectations of how you will dress; you will be warmly welcomed and fit right in regardless.
Do you take up an offering?
We have an offering box on a table at the front of the assembly on Sundays where members make their contributions for the work of the Lord. Visitors are not expected or encouraged to contribute though they are welcome if they wish to do so.
