2 Samuel 24 encapsulates the entire spectrum of the life of David — sin and weakness, deep faith and love. More importantly than that, this story sums up the Gospel of David\’s descendant and the response of those who wish to reign with him.
What do you do to move on after you face the consequences of your sins? The last days of David give us hope and direction.
We are rightly horrified as we watch David\’s great sin against Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11. We would do well to pay careful attention to this story so that we can avoid similar falls ourselves.
God honored the heart behind David\’s plan to build him a house, but it wasn\’t for David to do. God had other plans in mind for the house that needed to be built.
When God sent his prophets to sinful man, he promised wrath for those who continue in rebellion. If we forget the reality that our God is indeed full of wrath against sin, we will be destroyed.
